Canadian Experience Class

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is a program under the Express Entry system that allows individuals with Canadian work experience to apply for permanent residency in Canada. It is designed for temporary foreign workers and international students who have gained skilled work experience in Canada and wish to remain in the country permanently.

To be eligible for the Canadian Experience Class, you must meet certain criteria, including:

  1. Work Experience: You must have at least 12 months of full-time skilled work experience in Canada within the past three years. Part-time work experience is also considered but on a pro-rated basis. The work experience should be in a skilled occupation classified under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system.
  2. Language Proficiency: You must demonstrate proficiency in English or French, Canada’s two official languages. This is usually done through a language test, such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) for English, and the Test d’évaluation de français (TEF) for French.
  3. Education: While there is no specific education requirement for the CEC, having a post-secondary degree or diploma from a Canadian educational institution can enhance your application.
  4. Proof of Funds: You must demonstrate your intention to live and work outside the province of Quebec. Quebec has its own selection process for skilled workers. Valid Status: You must have legal status in Canada as a temporary worker or international student at the time of application.
  5. Adaptability: You must undergo medical examinations and provide police clearance certificates to prove that you are in good health and have good character. If you meet the eligibility requirements and are invited to apply for permanent residency through the CEC, you will need to complete an online application through the Express Entry system. The application process involves creating an online profile, submitting supporting documents, and paying the required fees.

Once an applicant meets the eligibility criteria and creates an Express Entry profile, they are assigned a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on factors such as age, education, language proficiency, work experience, and adaptability. The highest-ranking candidates are invited to apply for permanent residency through regular draws held by IRCC.

It’s important to note that the FSW program has specific eligibility requirements and selection criteria that may change over time. It’s always recommended to refer to the official IRCC website or consult with a qualified immigration professional for the most up-to-date and accurate information regarding immigration programs in Canada.
